Homeowners and Residential Testing Packages and Fees
The Laboratory offers packages designed around regulatory recommendations and for the most common environmental problems. To discuss your concerns and determine your best course for testing please call Client Services at 914 231-1620. Additional tests can be added to these packages based on the home’s situation.
Well Water Package A - $583.10 Westchester Private Well Water Testing Law* Tests include Coliform and E. coli bacteria, Chloride, pH, Nitrate, Arsenic, Iron, Lead (first and flush draws), Manganese, Sodium, and Volatile Organic Chemicals. Includes Westchester County Health Department reporting and homeowner’s consultation. See below for more details. (Includes sample collection by Certified third party)
Well Water Package B - $383.51 Recommended by the NYS Department of Health. Tests include Coliform, E. coli, and Heterotopic bacteria, Turbidity, Alkalinity, Hardness, pH, Nitrate, Nitrite, Calcium, Iron, Lead, Magnesium, Manganese, and Sodium.
Radon can typically occur in well water within the Hudson Valley geographical region. The EPA recommends additional testing for naturally occurring constituents that are known to occur on a regional basis. The Hudson Valley has been shown to possess high levels of radon. NYSDOH does not require Radon testing in drinking water at this time.
Volatile Organic Chemicals (VOCs) do occur on occasion in well water within the Hudson Valley geographical region. The fee for a VOC analysis is $192.60.
*Westchester Private Well Water Testing Law
This law applies to properties that utilize private wells for their drinking water and requires a water test to be conducted upon the signing of a contract of sale. The law also requires testing on a regular and ongoing basis for leased properties, and prior to the use of water from new wells or wells that have not been in use for five years. These tests can be performed by this laboratory as described above in our Well Water Package A. Please call 914 231-1620 to schedule a home collection.

Hazardous Waste Characterization and Fees
Hazardous waste is defined as a subset of solid waste, although solid waste is not a reference to the physical state of the material (the waste could be solid, liquid, or gaseous). It is a legal term intended to distinguish waste regulated under the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) from waste regulated under other laws. Under RCRA, a waste generator is responsible for determining if the waste is hazardous. The four characteristics of a hazardous waste are ignitability, reactivity, Corrosivity, and toxicity. Toxicity is determined by performing a Toxicity Characteristic Leaching Procedure (TCLP) Analysis. The TCLP analysis is designed to simulate the leaching a waste will undergo in a sanitary landfill. It simulates how both organic and inorganic chemicals present in liquid, solid, or multi-phasic wastes will leach into the environment. The extract obtained from this procedure is analyzed for the 40 Toxicity Characteristic constituents specified in 40 CFR §268.41. If it contains any one of these constituents in an amount equal to or exceeding specified concentrations, the waste possesses the characteristic of toxicity and is considered a hazardous waste. The test results of these characteristics are used to determine how a waste must be shipped, stored, or treated to make it non-hazardous.

NYS Analytical Services Protocol (ASP) Analyses
The New York Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) conducts a program for obtaining analytical services and test result reporting from participating environmental laboratories. This program, the Analytical Services Protocol, was developed to provide analytical data for use by NYSDEC in support of its investigative, clean-up, and monitoring activities. The ASP specifies a reporting format for reporting the test results for target compounds in water, soil/sediment, and hazardous waste environmental samples. The test reports are packaged in what is called a Category A or Category B data deliverable package. Tests performed under ASP are priced at higher rates. For more information and price,s please call Client Services at 914 231-1620.
